eFORMz runs on Java. Oracle is moving to a subscription model for ‘Oracle Java SE’ for commercial users beginning in January 2020. You have the following options available to you:
- Subscribe to Oracle Java SE. If you already subscribe to Oracle services, Java SE might already be included with your subscription bundle. If you are uncertain, check with your Oracle representative. If you already use Oracle Java SE, you can continue to use it within the scope of the Oracle Technology Network License Agreement for Oracle Java SE.
- Use a version of Java sourced from other than Oracle. For example, eFORMz (version 11.03.02 and later) ships with OpenJDK, which is a no-subscription alternative to Oracle Java SE. Other sources for Java include operating systems companies such as IBM and HP who have created builds for their systems.
The various sources for Java have maintained a common set of specifications since Java 1.4. At Minisoft, we avoid the of use vendor specific extensions to allow full compatibility across platforms.
